OPmobility, Maruti Suzuki, its joint-venture partner in India, and Maruti Suzuki’s parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation, inaugurated today a new plant in Kharkhoda, in the State of Haryana. Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest vehicle manufacturer and the country’s leading vehicle exporter. Dedicated to the production of energy storage systems, the new facility is the second plant operated by the OPmobility-Maruti Suzuki / Suzuki Motor Corporation joint venture in northern India. It will contribute to OPmobility’s ambition to double its revenue in India by 2030.
Located at the heart of one of northern India’s major and fast-growing automotive hubs, the Kharkhoda plant is dedicated to the production of full energy systems. With an annual production capacity expected to reach one million fuel tanks by 2031, the new facility will support Maruti Suzuki’s growth in northern India.
The inauguration of this plant marks a new milestone in OPmobility’s strong development in India, where the Group has been operating since 2007. More than one out of three vehicles in the country is equipped by OPmobility today. With six plants and four R&D centers in the country, the Group ranks number one in fuel tanks and number three in bumpers in India.
Félicie Burelle, Chief Executive Officer of OPmobility, said: “The opening of our new Kharkhoda plant is a major milestone in our long-standing partnership with Maruti Suzuki and a further step in OPmobility’s development in India. With strong economic growth, an expanding automotive market and significant potential for increased vehicle ownership, India offers considerable opportunities. Building on our partnerships with Indian and international automakers, we aim to double our revenue in the country by 2030. India is central to OPmobility’s diversification strategy, contributing to a broader geographic footprint and a more diversified customer base.”
