SMIRTOM of the Saint-Amandois (Cher, France):

A new step in ”Pay-as-you-throw“ program inauguration of the first underground containers with incorporated identification system.

A French first at Saint-Amand-Montrond.

The Saint-Amandois (Cher) Smirtom (61.000 inhabitants on 99 municipalities) was among the first to establish in 2010 the PAYT on its territory. Spurred by the success to the users, the Smirtom wished to extend the system to the communal housing. The 21st of June 2013 the first underground containers equipped with a system of controlled access controlled by a multifunctional badge were inaugurated in a housing unit of 520 apartments (”Le Parc du Vernet“).
